On the Road With Billboard Chris

First of a series

I spent last week in Seattle reporting a long feature profile. While I was there, I also wound up meeting with the subject of my next long feature profile, which will be published on this Substack. It will be my first attempt to make good on my long-deferred ambition to do longform narrative nonfiction on this personal platform. Along the way, I'll post some vignettes and video clips for paid subscribers that may end up in the final piece or may merely serve as supplementary material. Either way, the resulting posts will give subscribers a privileged view into the process of turning anecdotes into feature-length journalism — and confer onto them the micro-patron’s sense of ownership of the resulting product that crowdfunding enables. Following Pascal, I must apologize in advance that I will not have enough time to be more concise.
